Well here is the story of Maycee Jo Reese. I went to the hospital around 7:30am. When I got there they started my antibiotics. I had to have 4 hours of antibiotics because I was strep B positive. Then at 1:00 my doctor broke my water and at 1:30 I had my epideral. Then things started to go fast. At about 2:15, the nurse (who was awesome) said that she had two patients (me and another lady) who were about the same close to delivering so she said it would be a race as to whose delivery she would help in.
Well we really wanted her to be with us and most of you know how competitive my husband is and I guess that Maycee is just as competitive so as soon as she said that, Maycee got busy and was born at 3:00 that afternoon. I pushed 3 times and she was born. By the way, did I mention that I love epiderals!! I didn't feel a thing!
They got us all cleaned up, I nursed her and family saw her and then they moved me up to my recovery room. This is where the story gets fun. The nurse wanted to get me up out of bed and cleaned up and stuff so I started to get up. I took about 3 steps and then I started to feel some pressure down there...then one more step...and this loud pop and blood spurting all over. So long story short, I had a catheter in my bladder and the nurse "forgot" to bring it with us to the bathroom, it was still attatched to the bed and so as I moved away from it it just popped out. FYI: when they put a catheter in they pump the end up like a little balloon so it dosen't fall out and then deflate it when they remove it. Well, that little balloon traveled out of me as the balllon. OUCH! Then I took two more steps and started to feel light headed and dizzy. The next thing I know I am back in my bed and there are 10 people around me. I guess I passed out and my lips started turning blue and I was doing funny things. The nurse could not get anyone to help her...she kept running up and down the hall yelling stuff and so finally she called a code blue and that got people running. So after this whole event my poor husband, who was there the whole time, he is actually the one who told the nurse to call code blue, the nurse was kindof freezing and not doing much, but Kevin is very tramatized...he will not leave my side. As he saw it he thought I died. Our good friends Trent and Mikelle were there visiting and actually waiting in the hall while this all happened and so they came in afterwards and Trent helped Kevin give me a blessing (thanks guys). Anyways, that nurse leaves and about 2 hours later I have to go potty and so we decide to try the walking thing again. I get up, slowly, and I make it to the bathroom, feeling okay, and then it hits me again and before you know it I pass out again and Kevin has to drag me back to the bed. Once again Kevin's trauma is reinforced. They ran all sorts of test on me and everything came back normal and so they decided to make me stay in bed and not get up until morning.
The next morning they did some more test and made me start walking around and stuff and did much better...no passing out...no feeling light headed. So I guess I am just fine now. What a crazy day. I have never done that before and hope to never do it again. Kevin still doesn't dare leave me. He is afraid that he might come home and find me out cold on the floor again.
I guess we decided that the passing out had something to do with the epideral, my blood pressure bottoming out or something like that.
Anyways, we are all alive and well with our darling little girl. Did I mention that Maycee is the best baby ever...I have never had a quiet(non-crying) baby and so far she has been an angel.
